Applicants must be up to date on all required licensing and permits and must be able to pass a post-employment physical and screening. This position will start on or around June 1st, and end on or around July 7th.
- Apply knowledge of location to plan and execute safe sportfish-guided services for individuals and groups.
- Apply knowledge to comply with local and state fishing laws and regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Provide a safe and enjoyable guided fishing experience for lodge guests.
- Safely operate and transport guests in small powered boats and ATVs to remote fishing areas.
- Instruct guests on single-hand and two-handed fly-fishing techniques.
- Assist guests with the netting and safe handling of fish.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor with team members and guests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, hike, use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel, and reach with hands and arms to perform job duties properly and safely. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift gear and supplies up to 50 pounds.
- Minimum of two (2) years of fly-fishing guide experience required.
- Current Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG) sportfishing guide license.
- Current U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) OUPV license preferred.
- Current First-Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Expert level understanding and knowledge of single-hand and two-handed fly-fishing techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable State of Alaska sportfishing regulations.
- Familiarity with the terrain of local countryside and waterways preferred.
- Prior work and/or living experience in a remote wilderness setting.
- Must be able to work varied and extended hours.
- Basic understanding of customer service practices.
- General knowledge of APICDA communities, geographic locations, fisheries, and tourism preferred.
